Our Story
Origins
Basis Design Pty Ltd was founded by Andrew Peterson in 1997 as a registered trading name, and quickly became a trusted Sydney-based supplier of bespoke software development services. The business was incorporated in 2005 and in recent years has focused primarily on enterprise datacenter hosting and network administration services.
Our involvement with projects over the decades is diverse and spans industrial automation, electronics circuit design, real-time software coding, driver development, algorithms development, SCADA and control systems programming, image processing, web and database applications, mobile app development, Intranet development, enterprise hosting, systems administration, helpdesk, AusIndustry IR&D Incentive consulting, professional project auditing, business analysis, project management, network design, hardware deployment, network administration and more.

Basis Design is a small, privately owned business that thrives on long-running relationships with our valued clients. We prefer a deep, ongoing relationship over a churn of many short one-off projects. We prize being viewed by our clients as a long-term supplier and partner for their business, and once we’ve been able to prove our clients’ trust in us is well-founded, we find we can always help them solve many more problems in disparate domains, well beyond that of the initial engagement.
We are qualified, skilled and experienced in our industry but our real strength is in how we think. I.T. problems are not just technology problems, they are human problems in a practical business domain, for which technology is simply the machinery. All the software, networks and systems in the world can still end up useless, unless they actually meet and solve a business need, and we are acutely aware of the need to know why something needs doing, not just how to do it.
